Description

Warm apple, cozy cinnamon, vanilla, and pie spices simmer into a sweet syrup that tastes like fresh apple pie in a jar. It is perfect for lattes, teas, mocktails, cocktails, pancakes, oatmeal, yogurt, or drizzling over baked goods. Made with filtered water, organic apple, raw cane sugar, and simple spices, it keeps the ingredient list clean and flavorful. No artificial flavors, corn syrup, dyes, or unnecessary additives.

Ingredients

  • 4 Medium of Organic Apple(s)
  • 1 Cup of Filtered Water
  • 1 Cup of Organic Cane Sugar
  • 1 Teaspoon of Ground Cinnamon
  • 1/4 Teaspoon of Freshly Grated Nutmeg
  • 1/8 Teaspoon of Ground Clove
  • 1/8 Teaspoon of Ground Allspice
  • 1/8 Teaspoon of Salt
  • 1 Teaspoon of Vanilla Extract
  • 1 Teaspoon of Fresh Lemon Juice

Equipment

  • Saucepan
  • Fine Mesh Stainless Steel Strainer
  • Liquid Measuring Cup
  • Measuring Spoons
  • Mason Jar
  • Non Toxic Knife
  • Non Toxic Cutting Board
  • Spoon

Instructions

  • Peel the apple and use the peel. I used the apples to make apple pie! You can also use 1 whole medium apple.
  • Add the filtered water, raw cane sugar, chopped apple, cinnamon stick, nutmeg, cloves, allspice, and sea salt to a medium saucepan.
  • Bring the mixture to a gentle boil over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
  • Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 15 to 20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the apples soften and the syrup smells warm and spiced.
  • Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract and lemon juice.
  • Carefully strain the syrup through a fine mesh strainer into a clean glass jar or bottle. Gently press the apples to release the syrup without pressing so hard that the syrup becomes cloudy.
  • Let the syrup cool to room temperature before sealing and refrigerating.

Notes

Use honeycrisp, pink lady, or gala apples for the sweetest apple pie flavor. Simmer closer to 20 minutes if you want a slightly thicker syrup. Do not overpress the apples while straining if you want a clearer syrup. Shake before each use because natural spices may settle at the bottom. Phase: Luteal Phase- The warm spices and naturally sweet apple flavor make this syrup a comforting option for cozy drinks, oatmeal, and baked goods when the body often craves grounding foods. Season: Fall- Apple, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and allspice give this syrup a classic fall flavor that works well in warm drinks and seasonal recipes. Storage: Refrigerate in an airtight glass jar or bottle for up to 2 weeks. Shake before each use.
