Prep Time: 5 mins
Cook Time:
Total Time: 5 mins
Servings: 2 Shakes
Cuisine: Milkshake, Boozy, Alcohol, Adult Beverage
Course: Dessert, Baileys Shamrock Shake

Description

Creamy, minty, and lightly boozy, this homemade shamrock shake is a simple way to turn a classic treat into a festive St. Patrick’s Day drink. The peppermint and vanilla create the classic mint milkshake flavor while the homemade Baileys adds a smooth Irish cream finish. Using real ice cream, whole milk, and homemade Baileys keeps the ingredients simple and avoids the additives and syrups often found in store bought versions. It is rich, satisfying, and made with recognizable ingredients.

Ingredients

  • 2 Cups of Vanilla Ice Cream
  • 1/2 Cup of Milk
  • 1/2 Teaspoon of Organic Peppermint Extract
  • 1 Cup of Homemade Baileys Irish Cream
  • Natural Food Coloring

Equipment

  • Blender
  • Milkshake Glass
  • Liquid Measuring Cup
  • Measuring Spoons
  • Stainless Steel Ice Cream Scoop

Instructions

  • Add the vanilla ice cream to the blender.
  • Pour in the whole milk and peppermint extract.
  • Add the homemade Baileys and a few drops of natural green coloring if using.
  • Blend for about 20 to 30 seconds until smooth and creamy.
  • Pour into glasses and serve immediately.

Notes

Start with ½ teaspoon peppermint extract because peppermint can become overpowering quickly.
If the shake is too thick add 1 to 2 tablespoons milk and blend again until the texture is smooth.
Freeze the glasses for 10 minutes before serving to keep the shake colder longer.
A small scoop of vanilla ice cream added after blending will make the shake extra thick.

Phase:
Ovulatory Phase
The body often tolerates slightly richer foods well during this phase, and dairy based drinks can feel refreshing while energy levels are naturally higher.

Season:
Early Spring
Mint flavored drinks and festive green treats are commonly associated with St. Patrick’s Day celebrations which occur in early spring.

Storage:
Best served immediately. Milkshakes will melt and separate if stored. If needed the blended mixture can be kept in the freezer for about 20 minutes and re blended before serving.
