Description

Savory seasoned turkey and golden ranch potatoes are finished with a rich, creamy cheddar herb sauce for a comforting burger inspired bowl. Crispy potato edges, juicy turkey, and smooth cheese sauce give every bite plenty of hearty flavor. Ground turkey provides satisfying protein without relying on heavily processed meat. Potatoes provide potassium and filling carbohydrates that make this a substantial meal.

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 425°F.
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Dice the Yukon Gold potatoes into small evenly sized pieces.
  • Add the diced potatoes to a lined baking sheet with 2 tablespoons olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and ranch seasoning powder.
  • Toss until every piece of potato is evenly coated in the oil and seasonings.
  • Spread the potatoes evenly across a large baking sheet in a single layer.
  • Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, tossing halfway through, until tender inside and golden around the edges.
  • While the potatoes bake, heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  • Add the ground turkey, salt, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  • Cook for 7 to 9 minutes, breaking the turkey into small crumbles, until completely cooked through.
  • Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over medium low heat.
  • Add the minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
  • Add the flour and whisk continuously for 1 minute.
  • Slowly pour in the whole milk while whisking constantly until completely smooth.
  • Add the parsley, chives, and dill.
  • Continue heating the sauce in the saucepan for 4 to 6 minutes, whisking frequently, until it is noticeably thick and coats the back of a spoon.
  • Shred the cheddar cheese from a block.
  • Remove the saucepan completely from the heat and let the sauce stand for 1 minute.
  • Add the cheddar a small handful at a time, whisking until completely smooth before adding the next handful.
  • Assemble potatoes, meat, cheese sauce, and top with freshly grated cheese and parsley if desired.

Notes

Dice the potatoes evenly so they roast at the same rate. Spread the potatoes in a single layer so the edges can brown instead of steam. Make sure the milk and flour mixture is already thick before adding any cheddar. Add the freshly shredded cheddar gradually off the heat to help keep the sauce smooth. Phase: Luteal- protein, filling carbohydrates, and satisfying fats complement the increased appetite common during this phase Season: Fall- roasted potatoes and creamy cheddar create a warm comforting meal for cooler weather Storage: Store in an airtight glass container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
