Ingredients
1/2 Cup of Rendered Grass Fed & Finished Beef Tallow, Rendered & Cooled
3 Teaspoons of Carrier Oil (like Jojoba, Olive, Sweet almond, or Avocado oil)
Frankincense Essential Oil, Or less, depending on preference
10 Drops of Essential Oils (optional – Lavender, Lemongrass, Sweet Orange, etc.), Or less, depending on preference
10 Drops of Instructions
-
Melt the TallowMelt the tallow over a double boiler. (I add the tallow to a measuring cup and measure the liquid tallow in a saucepan with an inch of water.)
-
Add the Carrier OilAdd the Carrier Oil (I use Jojoba Oil).
-
Transfer and ChillTransfer the oils into a medium mixing bowl and place in the freezer for 30 minutes. (No more than 30 minutes! Working with solid tallow won't create a fluffy texture.)
-
Whip the TallowPlace the softened tallow in a mixing bowl. Using a hand mixer or stand mixer, begin whipping on low to medium.
-
Add Essential OilsAdd essential oils and continue whipping on medium to high until the mixture is fluffy and creamy.
-
Jar ItTransfer to a clean, sterilized glass jar or tin. Store in a cool place. Use within 6–12 months.
Notes
- Sourcing matters: Use grass-fed, pasture-raised tallow for the highest nutrient content and best skin benefits.
- Texture control: More carrier oil = softer, more lotion-like; less oil = firmer balm.
- No scent version: Skip essential oils if using for sensitive skin or babies.
- Storage: Whipped tallow stays stable at room temp but can melt in high heat—store in a cool spot.
- Use it for: Face, body, lips, hands, feet, even as a diaper balm or makeup remover.
