Yum Yum Sauce

Recipe By Healthy Roots DIY
Yum Yum Sauce is a creamy, slightly sweet, tangy, and savory condiment typically served at Japanese hibachi restaurants. Perfect for grilled meats, seafood, rice, veggies, or even as a dipping sauce for fries. This homemade version is easy and much better than store-bought.

Ingredients

\1 Cup of Mayo (Homemade)
\1 Tablespoon of Ketchup
\1 Tablespoon of Butter, Melted
\1 Tablespoon of Rice Vinegar
\1 Tablespoon of Organic Cane Sugar
\1/2 teaspoon of Garlic Powder
\1/2 teaspoon of Onion Powder
\1/4 teaspoon of Smoked Paprika
\2-4 Tablespoons of Water, As needed

Instructions

  1. Melt the Butter:
In a small sauce pan, melt the butter on the stove top on medium-low heat. Cool before combining.
  2. Mix Base Ingredients:
In a bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, ketchup, melted butter, rice vinegar, and sugar until smooth.
  3. Add Seasonings:
Stir in garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika.
  4. Adjust Consistency:
Add water 1 tablespoon at a time until the sauce reaches your desired thickness.
  5. Chill for Flavor:
Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight, to let the flavors meld.
  6. Serve:
Use as a dipping sauce or drizzle over hibachi-style meals, grilled meats, or vegetables.

Notes

  • Chill for Best Flavor: Letting the sauce sit in the fridge helps the flavors develop — it's noticeably better after resting.
  • Control Sweetness: You can reduce sugar slightly if you prefer a less sweet version.
  • Make it Spicy: Add a pinch of cayenne pepper or a dash of sriracha for a spicy kick.
  • Storage: Keep in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 1 week.
